ABOUT ME

IMG_8356.JPG

My Name is Tyler Frank Jin Hooton.

I'm a graphic designer looking to showcase my work, put my work skills to use, and show my creativity and unique ideas to the world.

I was adopted from South Korea at six months and suffered from febrile seizures until the age of eight. Around age 5, when I was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss, and wore hearing aids and struggled to fit in. When I was 17, I woke up completely unable to hear anything and struggled with losing hearing daily. Going to college the first two years I struggled to find myself, who I was, and what I wanted to do. It wasn't until Gallaudet that I discovered my Identity, self-confidence, and what I wanted to do.

I got very sick when I was 21 years old and was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and various other medical issues. While not fully functioning, my heart doesn't stop me from living my life to the fullest and doing what I love.

As of 2024, I am finishing my last semester at Gallaudet University, getting ready to graduate and take a leap into the real world with my degree, confidence, and hearing dog.

We are both ready to conquer the world.

ARTIST STATEMENT

In a world of chaos and no identity, art has given me the structure and identity I look for. It allows me to go crazy with creativity but keep it contained in various aspects of structure. Nothing can be too structured or messy, but it can be identified with a bit of both.
